This season we will have opportunities for volunteers ages 15 and up to volunteer with us on special projects like: transplanting seedlings, harvesting and tying garlic, weeding, building the greenhouse, large scale clean-up, etc. We will be posting information on our social media sites so that volunteers can lend a hand and learn about where their food comes from. Families with children aged 15 and older are encouraged to volunteer together! Meet Alyssia, she interned with us during the summer of 2014. She recently moved up to San Francisco, CA to take a job as a farmers market manager with a large bay area organic farm. We were sad to see her go, but so proud to see how she has grown, and happy to know that we were able to give her a start in her new career!
You go girl!
Bringing in the 2014 garlic crop, CSA members Mark & Brian had a great time learning about how their garlic is grown & harvested.
Volunteer Alex came and worked on several occasions with us this season. He even recruited some friends from work! Having help from the community for the big jobs really makes life a lot easier and a lot more fun on the farm.
2014 WOOFERs and new friends from Norway, Siigny and Chris. We really had fun working and cooking with these great kids! We leared a lot about Norway and they learned about how HOT is here in our desert.
Siigny is a trained nutritionist in Norway and her goal is to start an organic farm some day. Chris is studying psychology and works with special needs adults.
Both have traveled extensively and have promised to meet up with us some day in Italy so that we can WWOOF there together. We can't wait!
